Recent graduates who are Senior Managers of the Simbu Provincial Administration have been told to train well and mentor the upcoming public servants who will take on their positions into the future.
Speaking during the Simbu Provincial Administration Senior Manager’s Diploma of Government (Leadership & Management) Block-delivery graduation recently, the Chief Executive Officer of the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance (SILAG), Mr. Michael Barobe stressed on the importance of training the next generation of future public servants who will take on the province and country into the next fifty (50) years.

Mr. Barobe said that the Diploma of Government (Leadership & Management) program is a highly skilled Competency-based training course which is currently on high demand and has been taught to many executive directors of state-owned enterprises, senior managers, & heads of both government departments and statutory bodies throughout the country in the past three years.
He said that SILAG has received a lot of positive feedback from those participants who have undergone and graduated from this training program, which has helped participants to now perform well their daily tasks and responsibilities at the workplace, as well as become a better person and leader at the workplace, community, and also within their own families.
CEO Barobe further commended the Provincial Administrator Mr. John Punde and the Governor Noah Kool for the initiative and support in the institute’s mission to strengthen public sector skills at all levels.

“Educating public servants is key to improving service delivery and ensuring government processes are carried out effectively and efficiently,” he said.
In sharing the same sentiments, Provincial Administrator John Punde, who is the man behind this training initiative who also funded the training, with the support of the Governor Noah Kool, said that the achievement reflects his commitment to building a stronger and more effective public service.
He said the graduates, each with more than 20 years of service, are now better prepared to deliver quality leadership and improve government services provided for the people of Simbu.
Mr. John Punde confirmed plans to sponsor another batch of thirty (30) officer for studies in 2026. “This is a milestone for our province. I am proud of our hardworking public servants.”
