Course Overview

The Diploma in Public Administration prepares learners for effective roles in the public sector by building skills in public policy, administration, leadership, and governance. The program covers key areas such as administrative law, financial and project management, legislative compliance, research and analysis, workplace safety, and strategic management. Learners also develop strong communication, leadership, and computer application skills, while promoting public service values, diversity, and ethical practice to support efficient and accountable service delivery. .

Target Group

The Diploma in Public Administration is a recognised qualification aimed at the middle level public service managers and administrators serving at the National, Provincial, District and Local Level Governments in Papua New Guinea and neighbouring Pacific Island countries. The program expects to upgrade and improve competency standards in their capacity to lead, coach and mentor their staff in developmental processes, goals and policies.

Entry Requirements

  1. This program is designed for middle-level public service managers and administrators serving at the National, Provincial, District, and Local Level Governments in Papua New Guinea and neighbouring Pacific Island countries.
  2. Applicants must be serving public servants performing managerial or administrative leadership roles within their organizations.
  3. The program targets senior officers who are responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring staff in achieving organizational goals, policies, and development outcomes.
  4. Participants are expected to have relevant work experience that enables them to apply leadership and management competencies in the workplace.

Pathways

Upon attaining this qualification, the participants are able to pursue further studies to take up the following program:

  1. Advanced Diploma of Government (Leadership and Management)
  2. Executive Diploma in Leadership and Management
  3. Bachelors of Public Administration (DWU)
  4. Bachelors of Business Management (Public Policy Management, UPNG)
  5. Masters of Public Administration (DWU) Or any other Master’s program on-shore or abroad.
