FOUNDATIONAL MEMBERS RECOGNIZED

More than 30 participants from the Somare Institute of Leadership and Governance have been recognized as foundational members of the first ever SILAG Alumni Association.
In his address, Director, Corporate Services, Mr. Allan Kamale, highlighted that this moment marks an important movement to connect the nation’s brightest minds and forge a collective future.

Mr. Kamale emphasized the uniqueness of this group, noting that they are the first to establish such an alumni association for their school, which has been in existence since 1954.
“While other universities boast thriving alumni networks, this country’s institution had yet to harness its full potential. The formation of this association, he explained, is not just a social club but a vital vehicle for national development,” said Kamale.

He mentioned that the roots of national unity, tracing back to pivotal moments in history when key leaders met at the birthplace of the country, started right here at SILAG.

Mr. Kamale urged the alumni to see themselves as part of this ongoing legacy—stewards of progress, innovation, and policy influence.

“This association will be a hub for research, networking, and social issues,” he added.

Benefits for members joining the Association include certificates of recognition, privileged access to research resources, networking opportunities with prominent figures, and participation in discussions that impact the nation. Mr. Kamale congratulated the 32 Foundational members and urged them to embrace this association with pride and ownership.
